North Gwinnett Distance Running

Hello all,

We will have our meeting for the 2010 cross country season on Thursday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the theater! The meeting is for parents and all prospective runners…boys and girls. We will discuss the summer schedule and what will be going on in the fall!

We also will need some parents to help out on the executive board this year…..so please be thinking about that as well.

I am regularly adding information and handouts to the Winter Training page.  You can also see me for hard copies of this info for your training handbook. 

You have come by to pick up your Winter Training Handbook?  Right?!

State Handout

Congrats to the varsity boys team – their 4th place finish at the region 7-AAAAA meet earned them a birth in the State Championship meet next weekend.  Full results are available online at www.gatfxc.com

As of now, there is no new info about the possible rescheduling of the jv region race.  The weather forecast looks promising at this point, but we all know how that can go.  If I get any information about changes, I will post and distribute it ASAP.  I think the meet directors are really hoping not to have to change anything, but that is still a possibility.

The region championship meet will be this Saturday, October 31, at the Rivergreen course.  As things stand right now, the races are scheduled for running as follows:
Varsity Boys – Arrive by 7:30, Race at 8:45
JV Boys – Arrive by 8:30, Race at 9:45
There is a possibility that the JV races will be rescheduled to allow the region 8AAAAA Varsity Teams to race first, so please check back here regularly to see if that has happened.  I certainly hope it won’t, but witht all the rain, we just don’t know at this point . 

The course will be slightly altered from (and hopefully drier than) the one used for the county meet.  This new configuration should also be more spectator friendly.  I will post a course map as soon as I get one.

Finally, we need 3 parent volunteers to work the finish chute during the JV girls race – this should be a fairly easy job and you should be there already after bringing the athletes.  If you would be willing to help out with this, please let me know.

Itinerary for Region

Sorry for the delay – the district switch to a new “blocking” software, and I was temporarily unable to update the site from school.    The varsity boys took 3rd place in the Varsity race with 3 guys finishing in the top 20 – Matthew Urspung, Andres Littig, and Dallin Carroll.  In the JV and Open races we had a number of athletes set new personal bests – despite the miserable conditions – and most managed to keep their shoes on.   Use the link below to see everyone’s times from the day:
